Project Background

The Orinoco Oil Belt Revitalization Plan stands as one of Venezuela’s most critical strategic initiatives to boost energy production and upgrade supporting infrastructure. As part of this comprehensive modernization, expanding industrial and municipal water supply networks in adjacent key economic zones—such as the Carabobo region—is vital to ensuring both continuous production and local livelihood. For this major infrastructure expansion, PDVSA required high-grade, corrosion-resistant piping capable of handling large-volume fluid transmission under variable environmental conditions. Allland Steel successfully secured and executed the contract to supply 4,500 tons of high-quality LSAW steel pipes for this landmark international project.

Client Challenge

  • Strict Anti-Corrosion Demands: The pipeline routing across the Carabobo region required advanced soil-corrosion resistance. The client specified a uniform, high-density Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) coating with a minimum thickness of 300μm to guarantee a multi-decade service life.
  • Precision Geometric Tolerances: For large-diameter LSAW pipes (Φ610mm) , maintaining strict ovality, straightness, and bevel tolerances is critical. Any deviations would significantly slow down the automatic field welding process during cross-country installation.
  • Complex International Logistics: Transporting 4,500 tons of heavy steel pipes across international maritime routes during fluctuating global shipping schedules demanded flawless logistical execution and protective packaging to avoid any transit damage to the FBE coating.

Our Solution and Results

  • Premium Manufacturing & Coating Integration: Utilizing Allland’s advanced LSAW production lines, we precisely rolled and welded the (Φ610mm) pipes using thermomechanically processed L245M steel plates. Right after manufacturing, the pipes passed through our state-of-the-art coating facility to apply the 300μm single-layer FBE coating, achieving superior adhesion and defect-free surfaces.
  • Rigorous Quality Inspections: Each pipe underwent a comprehensive testing matrix, including 100% Ultrasonic Testing (UT), X-ray inspection of the weld seams, and hydrostatic testing. The FBE coating was subjected to holiday detection tests (zero pinholes allowed) and thickness verification to comply fully with PDVSA’s stringent technical parameters.
  • On-Time Delivery Milestone: The entire batch of 4,500 tons was successfully produced, coated, inspected, and delivered in perfect condition. The seamless execution was celebrated at our manufacturing base as a proud milestone in our international B2B cooperation.

Project Outcomes

The supply of Allland LSAW pipes contributed directly to the construction of 25 km of main water supply pipelines in the Carabobo region, successfully anchoring the infrastructure needed for the Orinoco Oil Belt’s growth. PDVSA and the project contractors highly recognized Allland Steel for our technical transparency, stable product quality, and reliable delivery capabilities. This project significantly enhances Allland’s brand portfolio in the South American energy and municipal infrastructure sectors.
