description
Tube d'acier SSAW also known as Spiral Welded Steel Pipe ou HSAW pipe, is carefully crafted from high quality hot rolled steel coils using advanced spiral forming and submerged arc welding technology. Its unique spiral weld design provides excellent pressure-bearing capacity and overall structural strength, making it particularly suitable for large-diameter, high-pressure transmission applications. Our submerged arc welded steel pipes are available in a wide range of specifications, with high production efficiency and cost-effectiveness. They are widely used in oil and gas transmission pipelines, water conservancy projects, municipal pipeline networks, building structural piles, bridge construction and various fluid transportation projects.

Detailed SSAW Steel Pipe Manufacturing Process
- Steel Plate Inspection: The raw steel coil or plate undergoes strict dimensional checking and surface quality inspection to ensure zero defects before entering the processing line.
- Cutting and Beveling: The head and tail of the steel strip are leveled and trimmed to precise width dimensions, ensuring seamless continuous feeding for spiral forming.
- Edge Milling: High-precision edge milling machines trim both sides of the steel plate to achieve exact widths and proper groove angles necessary for deep-penetration welding.
- Spiral Forming: Using advanced three-roll forming machines, the steel strip is continuously bent and rolled into a cylindrical shape along a calculated spiral angle.
- Tack Welding / Pre-welding: Fast gas-shielded arc welding is applied to temporarily hold the spiral seam in position, securing the pipe body for high-energy submerged arc welding.
- Internal Welding: Multi-wire submerged arc welding (SAW) is performed along the inside spiral seam to deliver high structural strength and deep weld penetration.
- External Welding: Submerged arc welding is conducted on the outside spiral seam, forming a solid, full-penetration double-sided welded joint.
- UT/RT Inspection: The entire spiral weld seam passes through automatic ultrasonic testing (UT) and radiographic testing (RT/X-ray) to detect any potential internal defects, porosity, or cracks.
- Pipe Cutting: The continuous spiral welded steel pipe is cut into specified project lengths (such as 6m, 12m, or custom lengths up to 18m) using automatic plasma cutting equipment.
- End Facing / Beveling: Both pipe ends are precision-machined and beveled to standard angles (typically 30°–35°) for easy circumferential field welding on construction sites.
- Hydrostatic Testing: Every single SSAW pipe undergoes full hydrostatic pressure testing to verify weld integrity, pressure-bearing capacity, and ensure 100% leak-free performance.
- Surface Cleaning: Pipe surfaces are shot-blasted to remove rust, scale, and impurities, providing an ideal anchor profile for subsequent anti-corrosion coatings (such as 3LPE, 3LPP, or FBE).
- Final Inspection & Marking: Quality inspectors verify dimensions, straightness, and surface finish. Qualified pipes are stenciled with required marking details, including heat number, standard, steel grade, size, and manufacturer ID.
- Packing & Delivery: Fitted with protective end caps and bundled securely, finished SSAW steel pipes are loaded into containers or bulk vessels for safe ocean shipping.
application
avantages
- Flexibilité du diamètre : Extensive range (8″–100″) enables custom solutions for large-scale projects.
